Collagen… Do I take a supplement? Do I drink it? Do I make a bone broth? Can I absorb it topically? We have all asked ourselves these questions lately after hearing the word collagen being thrown around in the world of beauty and anti aging. PDO mono threads work by increasing your natural collagen production and formation, and are your go to anti aging treatment to address drooping, poor quality skin, accordion lines, and marionette lines. They can also be used to target the neck, jawline, and cheeks to offer you long lasting and natural results.
PDO Mono Threads offer a range of benefits, making them an attractive option for those seeking non-surgical facial rejuvenation:
PDO threads provide subtle, natural-looking results that enhance your appearance without appearing overdone.
Treatments typically take between 30-60 minutes, making them a convenient option for those with busy lifestyles.
While some swelling and tenderness are expected after the procedure, recovery time is relatively short compared to surgical alternatives.
The collagen stimulation continues up to 12 months after treatment, ensuring long-lasting results
PDO Mono Threads are a TGA-approved, non-surgical option that kickstarts your skin's rejuvenation process. Here's how it works:
The threads are carefully placed under the skin in the targeted areas using small needles.
The threads encourage fibroblast activation, which triggers your skin to produce new collagen and elastin around the threads.
Approximately three months after treatment, the PDO threads begin to dissolve. However, the collagen stimulation continues, providing lasting results.
Non-surgical and TGA approved, PDO Mono Threads work by stimulating the growth of collagen and elastin in desired areas across the face and neck.
PDO threads are single, smooth threads made from polydioxanaone (PDO) common dissolvable suture material.
Threads are placed under the skin via small needles encouraging fibroblast activation. Your skin will begin producing new collagen and elastin around the thread, tightening and firming the skin.
At approximately 3 months, the threads begin to dissolve. The collagen stimulation continues for up to 12 months after treatment, providing you with long-lasting effects.

24 Hours Prior: Avoid excessive sun exposure, alcohol, and over-the-counter medications that may thin your blood, and continue any prescribed blood-thinning medication.
All our cosmetic injectable treatments require a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced doctors or registered nurses. Please inform your cosmetic injector of any blood-thinning medications you may be taking, regardless of whether you plan to undergo treatment.
During the treatment, you can expect the procedure to take 30-60 minutes, with the level of discomfort minimised by using local anesthesia. The number of injections will depend on the specific treatment plan tailored to your needs.
After the treatment, you may experience tenderness and swelling for a couple of days. Using a cool compress and over-the-counter pain relievers like paracetamol can help with discomfort.

Patients are told to move as little as possible in the area being treated. For example, if you are having work done on your lower face, you don't have to be totally still, but you should try to move as little as possible and let the skin respond to the thread. Even though we take care to try to avoid bruising, it can happen. We can't promise that it won't, though, because there are so many blood vessels in the face. For the same reason as above, you shouldn't do hot baths, spas, or hard exercise for a few weeks. This is also to reduce the chance of getting an infection.
Some reasons why treatment shouldn't be done are: autoimmune disease, pregnancy, currently sick, or infected Keloid scarring.
By design, these threads are not made to lift. They are smooth and are meant to be left in the body until they dissolve. We get rid of the thread over time through our kidneys and through our breath, which is cool! Tightening the skin will give it a slight lift, but that's not why mono threads are used; it's just a nice side effect of making enough of them.
You need the right amount of thread for the area you want to treat. We need to make a "mesh" to see real effects. We want to make a "sheet" of collagen, so we must weave the threads in each area in a way that looks like a cross. Your practitioner will tell you the smallest amount you should use per area, so you can put your skin's health first and treat each area properly. It's usually best to start with the places we see first, so most people treat their under eyes or lower face first. Under the eyes, it usually takes at least 10 per eye, and the lower face takes at least 30 per side. Even though the patient can use less if they want to do it more slowly. The full-face single-thread treatment can use 100 or more threads. With each thread, we're making more of the right kinds of collagen and elastin. The thread will dissolve after a few months, leaving behind a cylinder of collagen and elastin fibres. We need to cross-stitch the threads to make enough collagen to tighten the skin and make it lighter and brighter. If we don't crosshatch, we won't make enough collagen to see real effects.
When we use mono threads to treat, we put the thread into the skin to make new collagen and elastin, which are part of the skin's extracellular tissue. You need the right "dose" to see the effects. Since we used a physical thread to tighten the muscle, there may be an increase at first, but the real benefits won't be seen for a few months.
Collagen is a protein that gives your skin its strength and ability to stretch. (It's also in other parts of the body, like the blood systems, muscles, and bones.)
When we are young, our bodies make a lot of collagens, which is enough to keep our skin malleable and flexible, our joints from making noises or hurting when we get up after sitting for a long time, etc. When we have less of it, our skin sags and gets wrinkles, and when we're in the sun, the collagen we make can also be damaged. Having less of the right kind of collagen leads to leather-like skin.
UVA rays can reach the skin and change the collagen fibres, which leads to an abnormal amount of elastin and the production of metalloproteinases. This enzyme damages the collagen that is made, which makes the skin less pliable and less fresh looking, without any "glow."
The studies show that collagen production, or collagenases, can be improved in several ways for people who make less collagen or whose collagen fibres are broken.
